This is an FKEY that will generate telephone touch-tones through the Mac speaker according to what’s in the clipboard. Numbers only are dialed. Placing a comma (’,’) in the clipboard will cause ClipDialer to pause for 1 second. For example, if you have to dial 9 to get an outside line from your PBX system and you want to use your AT&T calling card, you’d copy the following to your clipboard:
9,<number to dial>,,,,,<your phone number><your card number>
The number of commas in the batch in the middle would have to be customized according to how fast AT&T asks for your code.
This FKEY makes use of an undocumented low memory global. Ack! If you encounter any problems with your cursor after ClipDialer is done dialing, I would like to hear about it (be sure to tell me what machine you’re running).
You can install this FKEY as any ID (key) with ResEdit or any one of a number of FKEY movers and managers. Remember that if you have QuicKeys you can assign the FKEY a high ID (key) and then assign any key you please to the FKEY using QuicKeys. This allows you to have as many FKEYs as you have combinations on your keyboard.
